Just bought a M&P 40c. I think it's a great concealed carry gun. Couple of questions to M&P owners:
My recoil spring is greenish-yellowish toward the muzzle end. Anybody have a colored recoil spring?
Does the trigger smooth out after break-in? Anybody got a trigger job on an M&P and can comment?
I need 2 holsters: IWB strong side with a clip, and a cross draw belt holster, looking for suggestions.
Defensive ammo too. What's the 40c like to eat?

Re: green recoil spring on M&P?

Yeah, all the M&Ps I've seen have that yellow on the recoil spring. I've never had an issue with my trigger, so I can't speak for it 'smoothing out.' Mine has felt solid, smooth, and trusty since I bought it new. I have a CTAC from Comp-Tac that fits perfectly for IWB carry. As for ammunition, I haven't found anything yet that it doesn't shoot just fine. I carry 165gr Federal Bonded HPs for self defense. It's a great gun; shoot it and love it!

Re: green recoil spring on M&P?

I have worked on many M&P triggers and they are great once polished and worked on right. I also have the APEX spring kits and must say that with the springs the trigger job is better than the spring kit but also that the two will break clean at under 3 lbs. I can get a 3-3.5 lb trigger pull without springs. The color on the spring is normal. Check out crossbread for holsters.

I wouldnt worry about the color on the spring, I bet it was a means to prevent the wrong spring from getting into the wrong pistol. Its a Quality control thing. I have done that with cables to identify different lengths, especially with parts that only vary by 7-8mm in length
