Hey gang, I decided I wanted a marksman's rifle to add to my gi 1911 and bushmaster ar15 combat weapons.
I picked up a Savage 10 fcp .308. It's 24" fluted and threaded barrel, digital camo accustock, accutrigger, integrated scope base and detachable 10 round magazine preinstalled. I didn't really want to build a rifle from scratch because that gets expensive and so are the ineveitable mistakes when a newbie tries to put something like that together, and it seemed like this gun is pretty much ready to go off the shelf. It was listed at $1050 but they took my offer of $975. The gun is discontinued and I've never seen one locally before so I'm glad to have it!
So now I'm ordering some accessories from MidwayUSA. Got a Butler Creek padded carry strap, a SE Vortex flash hider, a Harris S-BRM bipod, a bipod lock lever, a vortex bubble level scope leveling device, and a hope's viper boresnake and gun oil/cleaning solution bottles. Also some 40" aluminum shooting sticks.
I held off on the scope because I know it's really important and I thought I'd ask the experts before I take the plunge. My budget's 900-1500 dollars for the scope, and I want to pay for features and performance, not just an established brand name. I was kinda leaning towards a vortex 6-24x50 pst first focal plane illuminated mil reticle.
