Suppressors GSG-5 22lr, illegal???

Guys don't crucify me, but a friend just called and told me the ATF just classified the dummy can shroud on some GSG-5 22lr rifles as an Actual Silencer and it's a felony to own the gun. I can't find anything about this....please tell me my buddy has been hitting the crack pipe again!

He's mostly correct. The shrouds on the SD models were classified as a suppressor back in January of 2010 http://www.gsg-waffen.de/site/index.php?...105&lang=en There is a program in place to legally replace the shroud for a legal version. If someone owns one of these versions, read the link and contact American Tactical Imports for details on doing the exchange. I'm guessing there are still a number of these owned by people that don't even know about the issue.

From ATI, the importer of the GSG series. There is also a large thread on arfcom regarding this. This only pertains to the GSG5SD shroud.
