Pay Mexico? We already pay Mexico. The deal can be their own... the phrase invented by the Columbians back in the fun '80s... Plato o Plombo. Silver or lead. You deal with this, we'll look at upping your aid and helping you on some trade. You don't deal with this, we cut off every cent of aid and hermetically seal the Southern border to all trade, tourism, cruise ships, airline flights (both ways), car traffic, money transfers, gas imports.
Chopping heads and cutting out hearts... c'mon guys. We're better than this around here. This kind of stuff just gives the alt.left an excuse to say we are all ignorant visigoths. Well, I do occasionally resemble that remark.
Realistically, this can be solved in a microsecond. In Mexico.
Then again... Carnival Cruise lines will bi*ct. Women in SanDiego whose maids don't show up will bi*ch. Gas prices will go up... we'll all bi*ch. Pork prices will go up and we'll be baconless and all bi*ch. CNN will... well, all they know how to do is bi*ch. And Republicans will cave because they are so busy trying to be liked, that they forget how to do their %$#$#ing jobs. The left... are happily doing their jobs. Ripping down our borders and making America safe for Communism... at least they are working for their Communist Comrade Constituents.
Personally, I'll take some austerity for a while... even an economic hit at home... to deal with this. Because in the long term, a massive economic hit on Mexico will turn into a pinprick on our economy that will fade into memory. And will give our idiot elected representatives an incentive to deal with the REAL problem.... which is coming up with a solution to allow LEGAL migrants to come up, do jobs, make coin, improve our economy and go home. Then again, I don't live paycheck to paycheck and a lot of people can't afford any austerity... so don't have the luxury of weathering a storm. Even a minor one. And they are good people, too.
Noone says we don't want these people. I'm all for looting the world of the best, brightest and most motivated. But we don't want them Illegally. Let them come to the border, fill out some forms, get a migrant labor visa, good for 300 days... an RFID bracelet.... a tax ID number with withholding... and an ability to renew that visa perpetually... as long as they return home once a year?
Immigration is good. It's illegal immigration that has to be stopped. Period. But politicians on both sides get elected using the issue to scare the people who they are supposed to represent. They aren't sent to capitals to lead. They are sent to represent. The vast majority of our citizens want Legal immigration, migrant workers to pick their food and a secure, safe, efficient border system.
Why haven't our representatives handled this core Constitutional function? Because they don't represent us in their minds... they rule us. And our opinion only matters every 2 or 4 years... when they pretend to be listening to voters.
Meh... all been said before.
