Well we've all read and heard stupid at gun shops, ranges, etc. I just got back from a local gun show and heard/saw a few things thought I'd share and see what you guys have heard at shows.

First (this was actually 2 or 3 shows ago), while looking over a large ammo display, heard a VENDOR (right after I bought a few boxes of .357 sig) recommend to an obviously novice gun buyer that he get .357 sig ammo for target as well, and use magnum loads for self defense. (the guy had some charter arms .357 mag revolver). - this one I stepped in and pointed out stupid, showing both vendor and buyer one of each, why a .357 sig would not work and that a .38spl would work for target, yada yada yada.

(Today) not even 5 minutes after I walked in the door, a "ninja" (all decked out in camo and tactical vests) was buying AK mags for "his new rifle he just bought" (on a sling on his back was a new Stag Arms AR15).

Then, right when I was about to leave, this guy and his girlfriend were looking at a Barrett M82a1 (ya I was shocked to see it), when he proceeded to tell her "my 30-06 shoots better than that can. I've hit head sized targets at 2 miles with mine"

The show wasn't all bad though, I added another Sig to my safe (P225)

What stories have you guys heard over the years?

Re: Gun Show Stories

Last summer I was in Oklahoma and I went to 4 or 5 shows. Oh my hell some of the people.... There was a local vendor at all the shows selling custom AK's. They always had a bunch of girls at their booth to attract customers, I was looking at an AK with my buddy when one of the girls came up and proceeded to explain that their AK's had a 400 yard 1/4 MOA guarantee. I try to be polite to retarded people, but that time I flat out laughed in her face.

Re: Gun Show Stories

I am a WAC member here in WA. I have heard so much garbage, I can't remember it all.
The one that really sticks out is one time when I took my daughter who was about 2 at the time. This Vendor next to me was spewing some racist crap about Beaners and Spicks. Now I have never had a racist bone in my body and my wife is full Mexican. I try not to take offence to that stuff but he was going way overboard. As we walked by, he commented on how cute my daughter is. I replied,"Well thank you. And to think, her mom is a Spick." the vendors in earshot laughed out loud. I thought he was going to crawl under his table.

Good for you dude. It's people like that who don't know when or where to keep their idiotic thoughts to themselves and make the rest of us look bad.

Re: Gun Show Stories

I was just recently at the Oaks Show in Oaks, PA and saw a younger guy at a vendor booth full disassemble a brand new Sig Sauer. He removed the take-down pin and and the trigger group and had it in pieces on the table. The vendor turned around and went ballistic. When he asked the guy if he was gonna buy the gun the guy said no. It was one of the best moments I have ever had at a gun show. The vendor detained the guy until the cops came, at that point I left. People are so stupid sometimes, if it isn't your don't touch it.

I'm not sure why the vendor turned his back on someone who had control of his merchandise, and definitely not if there was enough time to do any dis-assembly. I'm assuming from what you wrote that it was a rifle?

Did he happen to look like this?

Haha, No, It was not Cpl. Harrison (made his shot with a .338LM). And yes, Ill admit I had to look that one up- I recognized him and knew about the record, but had to look up the name.

No, it was a pistol, that anyone could have broken down in a few seconds. The gun show was pretty busy when this happened, plus the way it is setup you have people on both sides of the vendor booths.

Went to our small gun show yesterday. Overheard: "...Then load about 4 or 5 in the magazine, so you don't ruin the spring...". I glanced over at that table, and saw that the seller was showing a pistol with a 14 shot double stack mag. Walked away shaking my head.
All .223 an 9 mm was a buck a round. A Browning BDA .380 was 1200 last month and 1400 yesterday (she actually planed on raising it to 1500 by the next show, if she still has it). WTF is going on? Also, Last month, the crowd was as expected, lots of haggling and not much being sold (my personal take is everyone thought Trump was a shoo-in). Yesterday, the place was packed, prices where higher, and lots of ammo and guns were leaving with new owners (everybody is panicking, over the election. Next month is going to be amazing).
Panic is a bad thing.

After you post something, go to the bottom of the page and you'll see old related threatens.

Used to work gun shows years ago and there was always something stupid happening. From strippers selling holsters and gun cases two guys that didn't have guns that would fit inside cases to Accidental discharges. One of the discharges ricocheted off of concrete column and hit another customer, in another case a person shot themselves in the leg.

It's always fun to walk around and look at the people at gun shows. It's kind of like people watching at Walmart... LOL

I often see the necro threads raised from the dead by brand new members, though not in this case. I've wondered if new members might see the site differently, in a way that shows older threads unread.

Having worked a few shows in the past, the worst are the husbands/boyfriends trying to show off their knowledge to their wives/girlfriends. I can't tell you how many horror stories I've heard. Some were just right dangerous.

I quit going to gun shows when items at the shows started to cost the same or more as at the local gun stores. So that was right before Clinton's AWB, with one exception
I went to a show right after Obummer was elected, I went with a friend that bought 10+ guns and 20,000+ rounds of ammo and wanted help carrying it all and getting it home. I literally brought a small hand truck.

After seeing that mess, I knew I never wanted to go to a gun show again lol

I also have to laugh at all the people that claim you can buy guns at shows without background checks, I recall seeing the local police taking a few people away in handcuffs that day too

I guess I might be forced to go back to gun shows if online sales are really stopped in some way, hope they do not also stop the gun shows at the same time.

oh is this like campfire stories got to love spooky stories by the campfire ....
have to admit this would be better with some coffee and a storm going on out side but the voices say this should be fun lol .
