Hi

I have been playing around with HK G3 a bit.
It is a potent gun and there is loads of armies that are still using it in various extent.

I am asking to get imputs of what I have done on it so far.

So here is what I have come up with:

The main problem with the G3 is the "hump" or the cheek bone crusher that hits the face espesially in prone.
Due to the stupid hump the stock is 2-3" longer than it should be, and it's 2" longer than an M16 A2 stock........
The hump is the result of the low iron sights and the hump was needed to the the comb low enough.

The "hump" is clearly visiable here

I made a solution to hang on a Magpul CTR instead and that rised the comb by over an inch and shortens the butt with up to 3" depending on how it's perfomed.

Here is shown the difference betwen the original stock and the CTR.

The advantage is obvious the gun feels lighter, gets shorter, handles easyer and gets the muzzle rise almost to dissapear......

I have also looked a bit at the forend.
And here is some result.

Instead of using keymod i have chosed to use our own interfaces.
Reason for that is simple.
Keymod does only work on forends, our interfaces works on everyting, so they are more versatile and this way the user can move a rail from his scopemount to forend or reverse.....

Weight of the forend is the same as for the orignal plastic forend.
Of course can various picatinnys etc be added.

Ventilation is big enough so cables and contacts can pass thorugh it.
Railcovers in plastic have been added for those who wants a bigger grip or wants cold protection from the metal.

any opinions about this?
Of course is the other guns that are more suitable as marksmens rifles, but there is and will be G3 in active service for many years to come.
And instead of using a G3 that is cumbersome and difficult it's far nicer to use it where it's controllable.

Re: H&K G3

WOW this is very cool, how did you add the ctr to the g3 end cap thing, this seems like a big advantage for control, nice work.

Re: H&K G3

ha.... that is a part of the secret:) espesially as the orignal buffer is removed and replaced with something else:)

Funny thing is now that the gun is somewhat controllable in full auto, and I have never shoot with a controllable G3 in FA before....:)

Re: H&K G3

That is really neat, when do you plan on having them on the market? I probably cant afford one right now but I am VERY interested in getting one soon. I noticed that when I would try to get comfortable with my g3 it seemed more relaxed with my cheek up towards the hump but was uncomfortable for my cheek to be placed there, this seems to fix some of those problems to more naturally fit to my gun (if you look at the buttstock on my rifle I have it adjusted almost as high as it can go) http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthre...962#Post3679962 . I also have an enhanced buffer but what ever you did seems to really cut down on the recoil. really nice work

Re: H&K G3

U need to put this on hkpro right meow!! If the stock works it'd b perfect for all the hk51s.

Very, very interesting for us HK91 owners. Outstanding items both of which I would love to have. Please keep us posted on this.

That's very cool. What kind of a buffer does the AR stock use, rubber?

A suggestion on the handguard would be to make a relief for the carry handle that is installed on some HK91's. It looks like it may be too tight to get the handguard on with the carry handle.

How do the rail covers attach, snap on?

Very interesting. I handled a PTR91 recently and the main reason I didn't get it was the length of the stock and the optic mounting options.
