I searched for a bit and only found people talking about which bottom metal they liked better but not why(h-s, badger, seekins, cdi, etc.). So what I am hoping for is to hear from people who have the H-S detachable magazine assembly and how they like it personally. I have researched just about every brand but I like the idea of dropping it right into an H-S stock with no milling or stock work. Why would you or why wouldn't you recommend it based on your experience? Thanks again guys.

Which action are you going to be dropping in the HS??
It makes a difference as to what metal you can use.

It will work fine with a Rem 700
It is great DBM to serve the purpose of hunting because it does not hang down like AICS style mags
The down side of HS Mags is that for a custom chamber if you are wanting to seat the bullets longer than normal it will not have as much room as a modified aics mag
I have never had a problem with the function of the mags

I have had one in the past on an HS Precision HTR and it worked fine; however, their magazines are very expensive and not all that easy to find. For that reason I changed over to a Badger set-up because AICS mags are easier to find and cheaper. I have a GAP barreled action in the works at the moment with a HS Precision stock but when I was given a chance to go with the HS Precision magazine set-up I decided to go with a Badger instead.

Thanks for all the good info. I will do another search on the different options but I seem to remember one assembly I liked that had the release as part of the trigger guard but I don't remember the brand...
