Anybody loading for .300 win mag using 210 bergers. If so how does h1000 perform. Had pretty good luck w/ r22. But am not getting the velocities I would like. Also I am seating it at 3.533" coal so should I bump up a few grains or reduce a little. Any input would help

Re: H1000 or r22?

In a 300 Win mag, H1000 trumps RL22 in temperature stability, and Retumbo usually gives a bit more velocity than either H1000 or RL22.

Overall I find H1000 to be superior to any powder in overall velocity, with fine accuracy, and superior temperature stability, with 200 gr or heavier bullets in a 300 Win Mag.

Aimsmall, I did quite a bit of work recently with my 30-338 which is a brother of your 300WM and my experience was the same as Bobin's. Enjoy the Bergers and your 300. I feel confident when shooting mine. Wind is a breeze.

Re: H1000 or r22?

H1000 and Retumbo are temp insensitive Extreme powders. It can throw you for a loop when it is 90 deg cooler and the elk or deer of a lifetime is sitting pretty broadside at 469 in the Swaro's, get a solid rest, sqeeze off the shot based on your data from the spring/summer/fall and you miss 2" low.

Control what you can is my thoughts. I don't need temperatures to be a variable in my internal ballistics where I can't account for them like external stuff like weather, altitude, pressure, humidity, etc.

My $0.02.

H1000 has been very solid with the 190VLDs. What lengths barrel?

It's a 26 " bbl 700 p. Great shooting gun hit a 4 inch group at a little over 500 yds Saturday I have just spent so much money (perfectionist) trying to find my load but I am also wanting to conserve bore life
