I don't understand why someone would chose a reticle like the H2CMR reticle for an FFP scope over a reticle like the Horus H59. Wouldn't it be more accurate to base your holds off a grid, rather than holding out in space? Is there an instance where the H2CMR would have an advantage?

I hope to have a .338 at some point. I wanted a S&B scope. I don't see the purpose in a scope for holdovers without an accurate way of holding over. Also, can you get a Horus reticle in a S&B scope or can you recommend a good alternative?

Thanks for your help.

Re: H2CMR vs H59 reticle

I just recieved my s&b with the h59. Just know the Schmidt h59 is still the same center cross hair as the h58 just has the extra mil of wind. I got mine from veteran tactical here on the hide and Troy is great to deal with

Also google the previous comments on here from various members some love it some hate it, has its pros and cons but it was a very good discussion with well respected opinions on both sides. I still do not have an opinion I have not mounted the scope.

Your mind is pretty good at squaring stuff up. All those hashes get rather busy when trying to find the correct line quickly. Plus, way too much of the field of view is illuminated in low light. Too many photons dulling what you're trying to see.

Re: H2CMR vs H59 reticle

It's personal preference. I don't like the Horus reticles. Don't do well with my eye. I have P4F and H2CMRs and like the both over the Horus. I have held over out to 1000 yards in a match with the P4F and hit without a problem. The H2CMR is actually my favorite now.

You can get the H37 in either the 3-20 or 5-25 and the H58 in the 3-20 or 4-16.

Re: H2CMR vs H59 reticle

like the guys above me said, different strokes, some guys like blonds, some like redheads, some guys like a simple mil like reticle with hash marks at convenient subtensions, some guys like looking through a Christmas tree or graph paper looking reticle.

me personally, i don't like the horus reticles, but i havn't been trained on them either. guys seem to love them or hate them. I have used a velocity nightforce scope on an ar10 and i liked that well enough, but my favorites are the p4 fine, the nh1, and the moar.
