Going to try some in a 24" Bartlein barrel with some 168 SMK's
Anybody shooting any and where are you finding a accuracy node?

Works good, great powder for 223, 6br, and 308. I believe I was 43.5-43.8, win brass and br2/cci200. I'd personally run a different bullet, 168tmk or 168 eldm, or better yet 175-178.

I use this in my M14's with 22" and 19.25" barrels.

However, I have also used it in my M40 replica build with a Shilen 24" 1:10 twist barrel. This load performed well. See information below and quickload pic.

M1Army

Powder - 42.1 Grains of H-4895
Primer - Federal Match Large Rifle
Bullet - SMK 168 Grain hpbt
Case - New Winchester Brass
Case Trim Length - 2.005
Ogive Measurement - 2.2238 for this rifle/bullet combination after measuring the OAL with my Hornady Overall Length Gage and backing off the lands .020
Accuracy Node - QuickLoad shows 1.228 MS - which is exactly on Node #5 for a 24" barrel.
I have some H-4064 powder I will try in the future as well

I have a 24" Krieger sporter barrel and got excellent accuracy with 41.0 grs. I got groups in the 3's with MV's at 2725 fps with single digit ES's and SD's (as measured by Magnetospeed v3). This is with Federal brass and Federal 210 primers. COAL at 2.847" where it's .010 off the lands and the brass was only neck sized with a case length of 2.005.

PS: Had to modify burn rate in Quickload to match the actual data:

I used bergers but tried it for the 175 otm and 185s

My varget load with the 175 is 44 grains to give you an idea of the spread between powder charges

Your numbers for the 175's are virtually identical to mine where my pill is the 175 SMK for those powders.

I haven't use the 3 powders you're showing for 185's. I've been having some good results with IMR 4064 for my Berger 185 jugs. Just got a new jug of 4064 and need to have the load refined.

Tried the H4895 out today with 168 SMK's and my gun definitely likes it better than varget and 4064.
It's a little faster than those 2 powders also.
With a charge of 41.6 and 42 GRS of H4895 put me at 2670FPS with SD's in the single digits and dam near shot one hole groups.
Tested with Lab Radar.

What are your cartridge specs (e.g. FL sized or Neck Sized; brass mfg; COAL; how far off lands; etc)?

Lapua brass
Honed out FL Forster die
COAL 2825
30 off

Thanks for that info.

I've been trying to figure out WHY your MV is so low compared to my experience and compared to what QuickLoad calculates. Something is just not adding up with you having a difference of around 100 fps or more above what QL calculates and my own experience.

Maybe it's a chronograph issue??? I use a Magnetospeed and typically I find it to be very much in line with what other's have shown with their Labradars. Am just thinking just what might explain the difference.

There's only a couple ways I could get QL to calculate an MV near what you've gotten is to reduce the barrel length from 24" to 20". . . ??? Or, the temperature was way low at the time (like 20°F) ??? Typically, QL gives me verily accurate results when I have all the other data correctly entered. Sometimes I have to change the powder burn rate to match my chrono data, but not to such an great extent like 100 fps.

Well. . . it's a mystery to me in trying to reconcile this difference. :)

I've got a 24" Bartlein barrel shot at 70 degree outside temp.
My Lab Radar gave me at 42GRS of H4895/2670FPS with a SD of 5.6
