Hello all, newbie here.

I just received my Nightforce base and ultralite rings from Sport Optics. Last week I remember reading up on the nightforce owner's manual directly from their website which states that the cross bolts require 68 in/lbs and the cap screws require 15 in/lbs (which I have also seen referenced here). However, when I was unboxing the ring cap screws, this is what I found in the bottom....

Has something changed recently or is the 15 in/lbs still the recommended setting and I just shouldn't exceed the 25 in/lbs recommendation? Should I just torque them to 25 in/lbs? I plan to use 65 in/lbs on the cross bolt as this is the maximum my torque wrench allows anyhow. These will be going on an NXS 5.5-22x50 if that has any bearing on the matter.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Have things changed?

Those are maximums and they are publishing them because some folks obviously got over-zealous with the screwdriver.

I use 55in/lb for the cross bolt and 18in/lb for the cap screws, using the awesome Brownells torque wrench.

Took your advice and torqued to your recommended settings. Thanks.

Which Brownells torque wrench is the "awesome" one? Though... I'd settle for the recommended one as well.

Thanks
