Rifle Scopes Hawke Sidewinder 30 tactical 4.5-14x42

Re: Hawke Sidewinder 30 tactical 4.5-14x42

They are excellent scopes for the money. The optical resolution & quality is indeeded a step above that of the standard "Sidewinder" line. I liken the view throug the scope somewhere between the Nikon Monarch and Bushnell Elite lines. The adjustments are MOA and are solid & repeatable, no "mushiness" between clicks. The 1/2 Mil reticle is very usable at distances from 100-600yds and features two illumination options (red & green).

The Hawke Sidewinder Tactical scope offers a lot of features for the money. I currently run both the fixed 10x and 4.5-14x models on two different rifles (a 6.5x284 & .260) and have been pleased with the performance, features & reliabilty when one considers the price point. Are there a few things I'd change, sure: offer a mil/mil and a zero stop option, etc. BUT it is still a well thought out scope that makes for a great entry level tactical scope.

Here are some pics of the two Sidewinder Tactical models atop my setups (yes, the scopes do sit high & a stock pack helps a lot!):

Re: Hawke Sidewinder 30 tactical 4.5-14x42

btw, Hawke's CS is one of the best in business. They do stand behind their products regardless of price. I have four "Tacticals", most of them are on precision airguns and one on .204 Ruger. Indeed, great scopes for the money. However, I do not know how they will perform on heavy kickers...

I have about 400 rounds of .308 win shot with my Hawke Sidewinder Tac and still does what it has to and its spot.

I tested in on a 338Lapua, among other rifles, when I did my test.

It held up fine.

Read the press from scope to scope. There has been no negative reviews that I can remember about the Hawke Tacticals. That statement can't be made concerning the Falcons at all.

I have looked through both, but have yet to shoot with either. Glass for glass, turrent click feel, scope features, reticle design, profile of scopes, customer service... Hawke wins hands down!!

I am leaning really hard toward the 20X, and trying my best to continue using my 16XSS since it is paid for...

The glass clear is very clear from edge to edge. Pretty clear to 14 power. I'm almost finish with my build and should have the 30-06 up and shooting soon. I will give an update on the scope then. Not a bad scope for the money. The floating reticle is cool with 1/2 mildot.
