I've been a member here for quite awhile but I don't post much. Usually I search for what I need to find out and there always seems to be an answer. In this case, I can't find what I am looking for and I'm sure it's staring me right in the face.
A quick back story....I bought what I was told was a Rem. 700 ADL Short Action Youth stock from an individual and had it sent straight to the painter for a custom finish for my 13 year old daughter's .243. It was a surprise for her and I was beyond excited to pick it up last night and get her rifle in it so I could show her. I'm sure you've figured out by now....it didn't fit. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. Granted, it's my fault for not getting my hands on it and checking it first. I'm still not sure if I want to sell it and get a little of my money back and get the correct stock and start all over, or just buy something that will fit in the stock.
My question is, where can I find stock dimensions so I can see exactly what I have? I've searched all over for dimensions or comparison pics and can't find anything. I even tried getting overall dimensions of various L/A vs S/A and Youth vs Regular rifles and doing the math to try to figure it out but my results were all over the place. I haven't put a measuring tape on it yet but just holding it up next to the S/A Youth stock from her .243, it is about an inch longer overall and the opening for the follower is probably 1/2" to 3/4" longer.
Does anyone have any ideas?? I'm thinking I will probably list it for sale to see if I can get any interest but I want to make sure I know exactly what it is first so the same thing doesn't happen to the next guy.
Thanks in advance for any help! This forum has been a great resource for me!
