Hi I'm new here and am looking for help deciding what bullet to run in my project 300wm build. First off it's a rem700 w/26" ER Shaw barrel, alluminum bedded stock, and will have a vortex viper pst on top of it very soon. I've been running 208 A-max with imr 4350 with great results but want to be able to use it as a back up hunting rifle as well as for punching paper. I had tried 180bt but the 200-210gr area bullets seemed to fly best in her. I've been looking at 200gr accu bond as well as barnes tsx and tipped tsx 200gr. Animals hunted will mostly include white tail, russian boar, black bear, and elk. My concern with the barnes is after reading many reports that they may not peform well past 400yds. I looked at berger vld hunting but I would like to have some meat after the animal goes down. Ranges of course will vary while hunting from close in to realistic distance of ? depending on conditions and other factors. Punching paper distance locally will be 100 to 300yds and when travel permits out to 1000yds. Best I have by me. Not to sure if I'll be able to get a good accurate bullet for punching paper as well as hunting....might be asking for to much.
I would also consider this bullet for a HK91, 30-06(savage 110 and 1903a3), and my wife's rem 700 243-these being the main hunting rifles, game taken would of course vary with each.
