I am starting to load for my 6.5CM from LRI. Trued R700, Brux #4, etc...
I had a load that a SH member loaded for me (139 scenar, 42gr H4350, Wolf primer) that shot fairly well, but it was jammed into the lands. So I know the rifle can shoot.
I'm developing a hunting load, so I don't want to jam. The rifle doesn't like Factory Hornady 129gr, so I picked the 140gr Berger hunting bullet.
Using Bergers load development, I loaded 9 rounds each. .010 from lands, .050, .090, .130 from lands. .090 and .130 weren't very good. (1-1.5 moa)
How was you determine these 2 loads? I Wanted to get the seating depth down before I start changing the powder charge.
Load 1. .010 Off Lands. Berger 140gr Hunting.
H4350 42Gr. Winchester Primer.
Group1: 0.252
Group2: 0.841
Group3: 1.284
Load 2. .050 Off Lands. Berger 140gr Hunting
H4350 42gr. Winchester Primer.
Group1: 0.803
Group2: 0.557
Group3: 0.509
I think on my load 2, between groups 1 and 2, I let the rifle cool down a little bit.
How would you determine these results? I thought I had good shots (no called fliers). My barrel was getting warm on the both loads.
Should I shoot them again? What are your thoughts?
Thanks in Advance. I will probably cross-post to AR15.com to get more answers.
