Re: help identify this action

Looking at the bolt shroud it looks like a Model 670 with a Rifle Basix adjustable trigger with a trigger shoe added.

The Model 670 was a budget built push feed Model 70.

Hope this helps.

Re: help identify this action

Yes that does help I thank you for taking the time to look at it for me. I need to ask my Smith for the numbers on it somtime I hope it isn't a 670 not when I paid 450 for what I was told was a m70

Re: help identify this action

Ok if I was reading things right the m670 has a sliding safty other trigger this one I got has it on the bolt its a 3 position so I'm hoping it is a m70 lol

Re: help identify this action

I have an action that was identical to yours. It is a M70. Back in the 70's and 80's, there was a model out called the XTR also one called a Ranger. I believe one of these would be what ours were originally. Mine was originally chambered in .243. Being a long action, I went with the 280AI on my GAP build. I don't recognize your trigger, definitely an added trigger shoe. My action has become very smooth, trigger is awesome and the rifle shoots like a GAP should. I can't wait to bloody it this next week!

Looks like yours has been trued already? It will make a good build for sure.

That would be my guess also.
