Rifle Scopes Help identifying scope - Came off a 1903

This scope came off a Springfield 1903 that I bought in the mid-90's. Took it off, put something else on there and this has sat in a box ever since. Ran across it recently and was thinking of reuniting the two. Used it for the first few hundred rds and it was actually pretty decent for being so low powered at ranges 200 yards or less if I recall. Just thought I needed more magnification at the time.

Anyone know what kind of scope it is? Only marks on it are by the adjustment and that's an 'L' by an arrow.

The two adjustment points look like they're slotted for use with a coin.

Has a post aiming point instead of crosshairs.

Was thinking it might be a Weaver 330, not sure. Usually Weavers are over-marked though. Maybe someone built a pseudo-1903 'Sniper' directly after WWII. I'm thinking it was a commercial scope that was probably around in some quantity either directly before or immediately after WWII. From how the scope is weathered and looking through the glass I doubt it's any newer than the 50's.

I've done several searches and the closest I can find that kind of matches up are Dr. Walter Gerard brand scopes from between WWI and WWII.

So anyone know what make and model it is?

I had one that looked like that and on an 03...though it's been many years (20+), maybe a Lyman Alaskan?

It is not a weaver 330 or a Lyman Alaskan (it is not correct for 03 A4)

Lyman alaskan has a bell shaped objective.

....rings might be redfield JRs... hard to tell from the photo.

I'd guess you to be correct, an early manufacture weaver model, the plate over the elevation is similar to the weaver 330 construction style, but the body of the scope is way too long for a 330 and the objective end on a 330 does not have a change in tube width...also, the screw mid-way down the body is not present on the 330 style...is that how you adjust the right to left on the reticle?

Check out the weaver B6 and G6 models from the El Paso days...they have the long tube and some similar features, but all seem to have a more mature eye piece.

Had someone tell me that it might be a pre-production Weaver J2.5

Every Weaver I've ever seen was over marked all over the place.

Could it be made by Weaver for Sears or Montgomery Wards back when they used to sell guns?
