Help ironing out 270 Wsm build.

after talking to multiple people, and my last post debating back and fourth I am pretty much settled on a 270. Wsm for the build. I have a gentleman looking into a 1:8 twist benchmark barrel for me but need some help on action and mags.

This rifle will be build for primary purpose of a hunting rifle. Might be build a little on the heavy side but it will mainly be for hunting. I’m going back and fourth between defiance deviant tac and bighorn tl3. Going with a long action as I might do a switch barrel and get a 30. Cal mag spun up. Wondering which action might be better for the build? Leaning towards the tl3 as I like the idea of control round feed and floating bolt head for a switch barrel but definately open to the opinions!! Secondly, what is the best way to feed a Wsm on a long action?

I have two origins and to me they're really nice. I've never owned any other customs, but still. Pros for me were the swappable bolt heads, being able to run Savage or shouldered prefits, controlled round feeding, and the price point. My origins are pretty smooth and I'd have no qualms about using it in less than ideal conditions. I don't see dust or anything being a problem which is important on a hunting action. I'm still waiting on my #2 profile 6.5 PRC barrel for my hunting build. From what I understand the lead times on big Horn actions isn't too bad right now, may be a factor if you're trying to have this done for next fall.

Looks to me like the Bighorn TL3 is the top of the food chain. Lots of prefit barrels and a changeable floating bolt head offer maximum flexibility.

The Curtis looks to be a good option if ease of barrel change or caliber change is important to you.

You can’t leave Defiance off any such list.

Lots of other very good options in the $900 to 1,500 range.

Love the look of the Curtis vector but they don’t offer a long action. The new Curtis action (can’t recall the name) which is a long action won’t be available in Canada for some time so unfortunately the Curtis is our! But would love to figure out a short action build to try one

i'd do TL3 personally. bighorns just run. easy to get shouldered prefits or barrel nut prefits

but being in canada the ultimatum deadline is a sweet action. lots of really nice features

Thank you I’m definitely leaning the bighorn way but don’t want to leave out the defiance or surgeon. But like I mention my smith recommends impact or surgeon as it’s there favorites but will obviously build on anything!

I’d love to try an ultimatum but I hear some many bad things that I’m shying away from that. Would love to see a good solid Canadian action be a solid competitor!

Between those impact but it's short action only. Might wanna look at love peak long actions. Available in titanium

Hear great things on the Long peak but can’t find them in Canada so it’s out as well. So basically between the tl3, 1086 and deviant tac. Love to try an impact but need the long action to optimize the 270 wsm

Do you own a deadline action? How is the bolt close. Like I said I just hear issues with the ultimatum, more so the u300 that is no longer but still hear negatives with the deadline.
