I have a stainless m70, CRF, 300 win mag 26".

I'd like to make it a bit more 'compact' if you'll allow that term. I am thinking 20, 21, 22 inch barrel vs the current 26". Kinda thinking it might be much nicer to tote around in Alaska; also have the same model in 338 WinMag and a ton of ammo for both!

Ruger has a similar rifle in a stainless guide series but krud it is IMPOSSIBLE to locate a retailer who has one !!!

if I go with the 300, I'd be able to use my suppressor, lower 48...

Your thoughts....are valued!!!

The question ultimately comes down to whether or not you want to maintain the velocity that is typical from a 300WM. I would personally not want to cut it down shorter than 22". At that point, you may as well have a shorter barelled gun in a different caliber.
