Hello Hide,
I knocked my rifle over the other day and it fell onto its scope, a Trijicon Accupower 4.5-30x56. The sunshade took the brunt of the impact and got knocked crooked into its threads, as shown in the pic below. I can't turn it in either direction now, as it is totally stuck. Is there any way to remove this without damaging the optic?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Put some force into it? Maybe spray a bit of WD40? Or try heat. Chances are, the thread is damaged and you may not be able to screw anything back in there. I had an old Bushnell that had a stuck sunshade and I just forced it out of the thread and used a sharpie to hide the marks. Not ideal but...

You have to cut it off so the shade threads can collapse inward to save the scope threads, this guy did it a little crudely but he got it out.

Give Trijicon a call tomorrow and see what they say.

Is it moving at all? If not then leave it alone. It's going to be on there anyways.

Cut the shade. Reduce the overall length to about .5" from scope, then slot cut as needed to allow the threads to collapse inward. Patience and baby steps. Protect the glass with a guard before attempting anything!

Call Trijicon for advice since I'm sure it's not the first time this has happened and you'll need a new sunshade.

Thanks so much for all the advice, guys.
I will call Trijicon tomorrow to see what they have to say. I am worried because I am shooting a 2-day NRL match next weekend and was planning to use this rifle and scope combo. I definitely don't want to cut it myself so would rather just send it to them if there isn't a less invasive way to do it.

Thanks again!

Then just shoot the match with it like that. Check the scope out and make sure it wasn't damaged and if not then leaving the sunshade on won;t hurt anything. If they need it in then send it after the match.
