I have a remington 700 and want to put a US Optics base that is .625in tall on it. The scope I am putting on it is a Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 with the outter dimension of the objective is 2.26in. Plus I will need prolly 3mm(not sure about inches) for my lens covers. I keep seeing all these formulas but when I do them it just doesnt seem right. I want it sitting as low as possible with just a little bit of clearance and dont want to get the wrong ring height. Thanks!

Check out Heatseekins response in the right height sticky. Pretty simple for 30mm tubes and 50mm objectives... I have a couple of 20MOA bases (one is a Seekins) using NF NXS and Vortex PST 6-24x50 and medium rings work great even with BC flip up caps (Rem 700 varmint contour and a Rem 700 5R). The exception is a Rem 700 with a heavy straight barrel that is very very close.
