Anyone have experience with the piglite CF4 version carbon fiber tripod from hog saddle?

I’m currently using the standard pig0311 tripod/52mm ball head, with good results.
wouldn’t mind having something lighter and more compact to fit into my pack while hiking into my spots.

use is purely for coyote/varmint stand hunting and banging steel across farm fields. No competition use.

I know I know, RRS or gtfo, but I don’t have that kind of cash since I’m just getting my reloading setup situated. I’ve looked at the innorel rt80 and rt90 too but there’s no hook to rest my pack on while standing. Also made in China.

didn’t realize that. It weighs the same as my current pig but it’s more compact and I imagine much steadier.
I sympathize with you. I agonized over what route to go with a tripod for months. I wound up going the RT-90/Anvil-30/MidWestOffroad adaptor route. That way if I feel the need to upgrade, I'm already part way into the RRS kit.

I bought one a while ago, and tipped it with an RRS anvil. I got to shoot off some rrs legs at a match and I’ll say.... it’s not an RRS. One day I’ll have RRS legs but for now it’s the pig lite.

It’s definetly serviceable. It’s held up well, Iv done a lot of shooting and glassing off it. No complaints. Just shot a deer off it actually.

If you want it to be fast don’t waste your time on a clamp. Go right to something that will go directly on. Switching from binos to my rifle with the anvil head is quick and effortless.

Only complaint is that the head will spin if torqued hard left. The tripod dosnt really tighten all that much for left right movement of the column, but as I said it’s serviceable. Imo I’d rather have no column and the ability to run it lower.

Durability wise it’s been great. Iv had it out in -10 to 90 degrees and it’s always functioned. Nothing broke yet.

At the end of the day it’s not an RRS, but it’s my poor mans RRS until I can afford to upgrade.

After a year of practice, shooting a deer off it this fall, I will say, direct attachment and a tripod is the cats ass for hunting.
