We have failed as a society this individual in more than one way. By allowing the offender cross-gender medication it now opens another door with surgery to complete the physical transformation to the individual’s desired comfort and identity. Our biggest failure as a society for this lost-soul was not putting a rope around his neck back in September 2001, where is the justice for that innocent helpless baby. While some local chapters of the ACLU may have paid lip service to the 2nd amendment, as a rule the ACLU is pretty staunchly anti-2A. In fact, the 2A is not considered a “civil liberty” by the ACLU.
I wouldn’t have ever said they were staunchly pro 2nd amendment but not until this century did they become rabidly anti second amendment. They have in the previous decades occasionally joined or sued on the behalf of gun owners, albeit in obscure cases, the most major one I can recall was challenging a ban on gun ownership in housing projects. The thing about the aclu is from their inception up to fairly recently they took obscure cases representing those that no one else would, while I found a good deal of their positions unpalatable they occasional had a good point, that’s a far cry from the current organization which stands for nothing other than wealthy donors trying to force feed a leftist political agenda. There were more than a few articles during the Trump years about the older aclu members being forced out to make way for the Soros type money, now they just file the cases they are told to file.
