Im in the market for a Home Video Security System. I was at Sams Club and Best Buy and they both have a bunch of video security systems. But Im about as bad a newbie to these systems as to someone looking to purchase their new rifle.
So what systems are you guys using? Pros and cons. Are you using a Wired camera or wireless?

I do want the capability to view my cameras on the internet or on my cell phone.

Re: Home Security System

I got one from Sams Club the Samsung SDE 4001, its an 8 camera system and now that I have it I wish I would have gotten the 5001 16 camera system. I replaced the dome cameras that are used primarily for indoor use with the waterproof 1006 bullet cams that have Audio as well. The system is able to connect to the net, but as we all know the net is not really that secure. I use mine as a simple CCTV system that is closed and not hooked up to the internet. I did run cable so I can turn on two TV's and see it up and downstairs.
The thing that I like about this system is that the cameras are powered and send the video feed through one wire, so you dont have to have a separate outlet near each camera.

Re: Home Security System

I set up the Defender 4 camera system I purchased on line. Using sp500-c ccd cameras, wired are the way to go over wireless, even with wireless you still need to run camera to power source. Plumbed mine through supplied dvr then to two flatscreens in house. System has worked well for me.

Have any of yall considered putting your DVR in your gun safe? A DVR is only as good as the video on there and if the thief took your DVR, what do you have to get video or a picture?
