Anyone tried them yet? My son gave me some for father's day. I've been very happy with the 140 Amax's out of my 260 Rem. Just looking for some insight from people who have tried them.

Re: Hornaday 6.5 match 140grain BTHP

I got 600 a couple weeks ago. I've been using 139 Lapua Scenars and wanted to try the new Hornady. We used the same 43gr H4350 (2487fps now compared to 2525fps with Lapua) load as before and headed out to Rayners to test them out. Actually Me, my son and buddy Dale all had the new Hornady with us and we were able to use our same settings even though we had a 50fps drop in velocity from the 139 Lapua.

First round hits on 234, 300, 375, 400, 500, 580, 630, 650, 690 and 775 yard targets with a couple clicks tweaking here and there to center up. Took only a couple shots to be on the 900, 980 and 1000 due to a bit more wind but elevation was really close to old settings also. Son and Dale had nearly same results. It was a pretty calm day so we got to really get some good shots.

Throughout the day we would try one of the other bullets (AMAX, MatchKing, Lapua) and compare and found we could switch between the Lapua, AMax, MatchKing and the new Hornady out through 500 and very minor tweaking on the farther targets. Was very impressed so far and am planning on another test day this week if weather holds out to reinforce what we found that day. Match is next Sunday and we're going to be using the new Hornady 140BTHP match.

Am curious as to what others have found with their testing so far.

Now I just hope I didn't use up all my luck on practice.

On paper, they've got a higher BC than the 140gr SMK or Nosler CC and give up only a bit to the A-Max.

I'm interested to try some myself...

Thanks for the info. I've got my come ups out to 670 yards so I should be able to compare. I'll start a little low and bring it up to my present loading and if all goes well I'll try the side by side comparison. Thanks again Kennysong
