Rifle Scopes horus rifle scopes

Re: horus rifle scopes

I was sponsored by Horus for a couple years. Quality can be sketchy, as can customer service.

Reticle usefulness is great once you get used to the 'busy-ness' of it.

Strength is good.

I'd say controls work as the should except that once you zero it you shouldnt be turning the knobs much if youre using the reticle as designed.

Re: horus rifle scopes

thanks all. here is my problem,if someone would like to comment. i have a chance to get a tikka t3 varmit 24" barrel in 308. these are very hard to find and the 20" version is not common. the package has this horus 8-26 on it. price is nice. would likely be ok for paper punching, but would probably ultimately try and sell the scope, which we all know can be a bit of a tooth pull. they came out @ $750,but,swfa and optics planet don't carry them, which is a concern. thanks again for input.

Re: horus rifle scopes

I bought two of the HDMRs with the Horus reticle. I would recommend that scope. Given how nice the optics are you will probably resolve more detail at 21 power with the HDMR, than at 26 power with the Horus predator.

Bushnell will back the HDMRs, their customer servce is excellent.

Otherwise I would recommend avoiding Horus scopes and go with a scope with a better reputation for quality. There are many 6-24 options out there from better companies.

Re: horus rifle scopes

The Horus reticles are great (if that's your thing or you need the features that their reticles offer). I have used different versions of the Horus reticles over the years and I don't mind them aside from the fact that they are MASSIVE in terms of the clutter/"busy" scope view that they give you. Not all Horus reticles are insanely busy, but they do limit you to a certain degree under certain circumstances.

Their scopes on the other hand...well...they are not so great by any measure. The Horus scopes suffer from quality issues and often do not hold up even under light/range-only use. That lack of quality is made more problematic because the Horus warranty (a whopping 1yr) and customer service might as well be non-existent. They are just not a company that seems to want to stand behind their products or take care of customers.

If you can get the rifle without the scope...GO FOR IT and use the money you save for decent optics. If you have to buy both to get the deal, I wouldn't give any value to the package above $500 MAX for the Horus scope which is probably the best you could get out of a used Horus Predator on the open market.

Re: horus rifle scopes

I too have the Bushy H59 combo and can't praise it enough! For the money, it is the best Horus option available. If you have one and are not happy with it, I can get you in a NIB Vortex PST + $ and rid you of the Bushnell H59.

As for the Horus branded scope options from the past, you have recieved some excellent advice.
