How about a relatively lightweight/tactical RPR Carbine?

I've built up a very nice shooting RPR but it is heavy and pretty much a bench gun. I've started kicking around the idea of building a smaller and lightweight RPR.

One reason is my state has gone full libertard and they are doing everything they can to get every liberal wet dream through the legislature. I think AR pattern rifles as we know them may be close to an endangered item. Another is I really enjoy shooting my RPR and it seems it would be fairly easy to customize.

What I'm thinking is getting another early generation or unpopular caliber RPR. Installing a medium weight 16-18 inch barrel in the caliber of my choice, maybe .308. Install a lightweight rifle or carbine stock and a smaller scope of moderate power.

Has anyone done this yet? What do you think?

6 Creed are the cheapest. just cut stock barrel down and thread it.

what's the rifle for? besides being shorter? that a normal RPR, which isn't heavy by most standards, cant do?

What is your weight goal for the bare rifle?

If I was truly focused on lightweight I'd start with a titanium 700 pattern action, add a short Proof Research barrel and complete the package with a Manners CF stock. 6-7lbs should be easily achievable.

Why not just save your money and buy a Fix rifle with the 16” barrel. Takes SR-25 mags and weighs about 6 pounds pricing is ~3k brand new.

Or

Tikka T3x lite with AICS bottom metal, or just run T3 mags. Sure it doesn’t have the “EBR” look but would be very lightweight and fast to shoot.
