Re: How About This Swing Setup
Oh, does that bring back memories. 1985, Buntzen Lake (Lower Mainland) B.C.
Two trees growing about 30 ft up/back from shore. Cable approximately 65-70 feet up, with a rope hanging from the center of it. The rope is only about 30-35 feet long, and dangling. Had to throw "items" at it, to get it to swing back and forth until we could grab it.
The lake is a man-made reservoir, made in the valley of two mountains. Ergo, the climb is steep, to get to the launch point. Considering the rocks and other trees, it's a one-way trip. Swinging out was a BLAST, and then falling was a "three-breather" for sure. After hitting the surface, and the plunge, it was hard not to panic while actually swimming back up to the surface for air.
Another dude, the same day, swung out and then chickened out. He hung on and swung back. Broke both his ankles hitting the rock faces. Ministry of Forest (or Parks, can't remember) came out about an hour later, and cut both those trees down. Very VERY tall Fir trees.
This is the first of the type, that I've seen since. I didn't think anyone else was that crazy. And no, there was no alcohol involved and it sure was a blast.
