Exactly!!! And it gets a USO level.

Re: How many of you guys run levels......

Brasscow performed a field test and clearly illustrated the effects of a canted weapon.

Brasscow's Field Test

This test was a complete eyeopener for me and changed my opinion on the necessity for levels.

Re: How many of you guys run levels......

I am saving up for Coriolis Compensators on all my rifles before getting into levels.

Re: How many of you guys run levels......

I don't bother in most match conditions you damn sure don't have time to look at your level. mind you i built houses for 10 years so i have a pretty good eye for level.

Re: How many of you guys run levels......

USO internal levels on 2/3, USO fixed rail bubbles on the other (just because I can't brig myself to have them put one in my 5-25 PSR prototype

I graded parking lots and building sites for 10 yrs and that taught me to never truxt my eyeball. First internal level I got from USO I mounted with feeler guages, and thought everything was out of whack until I leveld against a gong hanging by one chain at 500 yds. Damn, every reference on our range I trusted for years is crooked!

Re: How many of you guys run levels......

Levels are a really handy tool at 600 yards and beyond they can easily make the difference between the 10 ring and just winging the target if you're canted enough.

I've seen atleast a few MOA difference just by having my bipod slightly canted and off kilter, once realizing it and adjusting I find myself right on the x ring.

Maybe not the most scientifically sound of evidence, but I've convinced myself I need one. Considering how cheap they are in comparison to everything else it's probably worth the investment.

Also thanks TexGAL for the level you're the best darlin!

And ranking very high on my gear list would be confidence or anything that inspires in in myself. The true need can be argued all day long, but when I have or lose confidence in a piece of gear, rifle or method none of that matters....

Re: How many of you guys run levels......

Get yourself a level....
I never knew how much and often I was canting the rifle until I put one on....it was a real eye opener.

I don't. IMHO learning to intuit 'level' is as valuable as learning to call wind.

Good luck

MZB has a point, and I wouldn't rely on any tool as a crutch. It could however be an intermediate growth point in your shooting abilities to use a level for a while to get some sense of things.

Like the guy above says, you simply don't know just how much you are canting until you try one, and even then you don't know if you missed the shot because you're a bad shot and jerked the trigger, or if you were perfect and just loading your bipod 15 degrees off level

Re: How many of you guys run levels......

I done fairly well shooting out to 1000 yds without one but the last two times out it has cost me. Once at 1165 yds and again at 1525 yds. All due to rifle cant that I thought I had adjusted out. I've got one on the way.

I have this level, and i love it. My other rifle is getting its own really soon.

Re: How many of you guys run levels......

I use an anti-cant device on my POF 6.5 creedmoor because I want to limit as many controllable variables as possible. Then I can only blaim the shooter.

Re: How many of you guys run levels......

I've been wondering if I needed a level on my rifle. Now after reading brasscow's post I will get one. I'm kind of a gear ho, and try to limit my spending to things I really need and will use.

I don't want a drawer full of stuff I'm not going to use.

I put a Harris Bipod on my rifle. My groups suffered. I was noticing my rifle was not level after some shots. Those shots were 1 or 2 moa off at 100 yards. I took off the bipod and bought a Rock and my group improved immediately.

Do you guys recommend the fixed or the swivel. I'm think of getting the swivel.
