Hey all - new user. Joined this forum because I want to start focusing on longer-range target shooting.
I've been using a 22LR to get into rifles and target shooting. Right now, I've been using a red-dot with a 6x magnifier option. Fun but nowhere near the amount of magnification I need to go out beyond 50 yards.
My question is this -
How much magnification is typically used for 100 yard shots? My 6x magnifier is not even close to helping me with those targets. I'm sure that the advertised power isn't too accurate but I'm thinking if my 6x magnifier is insufficient for me, a 6x scope would also be inefficient.
I'm looking at variable zoomers that go to 24, 32 and 40x (!). Is that overkill for 100-200 yards?
Your input is appreciated. Thanks.
