Shoot them a couple/few times, they'll grow. I like my necks a little longer, in the 2.010"-2.015" range, for a Savage 10FP, as the longer necks 'can' create a better gas seal.

For a given OAL the powder space is the same no matter the case length. A neck is too short to use when it can't hold a bullet.
