I am adjusting my RCBS primer pocket swager for 5.56. RCBS says to adjust the tool so that there is 0.125" gap between the swager rod & head to start with, and then adjust until the desired amount of swaging is achieved. How much is desired? Obviously swaging more than is required is not good. Should I swage a few, chamfer the swaged pocket & see if a primer will easily go in?

Swag till it takes a primer. If done properly, you should see a slight radius where there was more of a sharp corner at the top of the pocket and no chamfer should be required.

I use a dillon tool for this. It spaces off the inside of the cave head, so head thickness and ever burrs left from flash hole punching can affect swagging. I've even had the flash hole burr folded back over the flash hole. Not sure if any of this applies to your tool.
