How to reuse brass

I have recently began loading my own ammo. I was shown how to load ammo by a friend that had been doing it for years but sadly he passed away. I just have a question and was hoping someone here could help.

I have used brass for my .308 and I was wondering what I need to do in order to make it usable again? Do I need to trim it or just neck size it again?

I really am an amateur at this and I hope someone can help. Maybe there is a good walk-through out there?

Thanks

Re: How to reuse brass

In addition to doing some reading with a manual (which you'll need at least one for the load data), take a look at the thread titled "Reloading 101: Reloading Basics for the New Reloader" by doc76251.

It's the fourth thread down on this forum.

Re: How to reuse brass

1. neck sive if you can only if that case came from your chamber.if not full length it.

2. check case length,if long trim it

3. chamfer/deburr clean the neck [steel wool ]

4. clean/uniform primer pocket

5. prim

6. pick a powder then weigh it to the charge you want

7. now dump charge into case

8. put the bullet of choice into the case and seat it to the length you want

9. most important step.shot it at a target/animal

10. do one through nine again [reload ]

I am not trying to be smart just trying to give you a starting place.
