Fellas,

I am interested in purchasing my first centerfire. I would like to try FTR and Precision/Tactical. As I can not afford dedicated rifles for each, I thought this might be a good starting point. It comes with CDI DBM and a 20MOA rail. I have communicated with Jeff from CDI through e-mail. He said the weight of the rifle is 8.5 pounds. What are your thoughts? Anyone here purchased one? Thanks for your input.

The Howa rifles are really quite nice, and in general there really isn't anything horribly wrong with a Choate stock that would prevent you from learning on it. Get a decent bipod, a good scope and some decent rings and go shoot. Don't be surprised when that costs more than the dang rifle did...

Thanks for the replies. I have heard a lot of good things about the Howa actions. It is $1200 with DBM and decent stock. This seems like a good place to start. If I can save $100 weekly, I can have it in a few months. Thanks again.
