So here is the deal, I have one rifle that I am going to use for hunting. I have gotten to the point to where I can start traveling and going on hunts. I will be using this rifle for pretty much all hunts. It is a weatherby ultralight, with a 20 moa tac rail and Leupold Mark 4 rings. I will be shooting hand loads with 210 amax. I have shot this gun out to 1000 yards and have done well with it.

My problem is that I no longer trust my Viper PST on this gun. ( I have them on my ar-15 and 260 I like them a lot) I have heard to many stories of them breaking on 300 win mags and this is a really light set up.

I shoot MOA/MOA and would like to stay in there. I prefer FFP.

I really am looking for a 6x24 or close.

I have looked at the new Zeiss hd and Sightron SIII. Just wondering if there is something else out there I should be looking at. The leupold Mark 4 I would consider but the 8.5 will not focus down as far as I need it to.

Why such big scopes on a lightweight hunting rifle? Out of those two, i'd go the Zeiss. But if it was me i'd be putting a Swarovski on it for a lightweight hunting rifle.

I'd say the Zeiss HD5's....VERY nice glass and a lotta awesome features for a hunting setup! Used a friends yesterday to check out the scope for low light function and I am extremely impressed...I may have to spring for one soon...he had the 5-25.

Cross hair I came across that scope yesterday and looked at it all day long. It also comes with a cds. and zero stop. I am sold. I actually am buying two one for my 300 win mag and one for my ar15. I could not ask for more. Thank you to all of your for your information. I appreciate it.

Very cool. I'm sure you'll dig it. I was perusing libertyoptics.com today and saw he had a great deal on that scope, maybe even better as a 'Hide member. Check with Scott, he's good people.

I have no problem hitting the front 1/3 of ruminants at 500 yards with the scope on 2X.

But I can't get proficient at getting in the kill zone on targets at 600 yards with a 40X scope.

So, because of wind, I must stalk to within 500 yards. That is easier to do before the sun comes up.
