Re: Hyundai

Tucker it's probably best that we go to pm's if you want to continue to run your mouth! You called me an "insider" and I tried to give you insider advice! Do what you want w/ it. Salespeople make a lousy $100 off of a Cruze. You live in SW VA, I live in NOVA; you are in no danger of buying a Cruze from me! Personally you can keep the $100 and take your business elsewere! I have nothing to hide about the automotive industry, I don't lie to clients. Last piece of advice; you want a great deal; change your attitude! Get more bee's w/ honey then...! Now if you want to continue to get "internet brave" the floor is yours!

Re: Hyundai

Turk,
Go back to my original question and you tell me where I ever asked for your two cents to begin with.

I asked for comments from people who have owned Hyundais. Obviously that wasn't you. So when you jumped in anyway with your comments about the Chevy I read what you had to say.
I told you I'd looked at them and that I was going with the Hyundai.

To a reasonable person, that would have been enough. But not you.
You had to go rambling on about shit you obviously didn't know much about.

You didn't know that the Cruze was designed and built by Daewoo in Korea in 2008 as different model when you started knocking Korean car companies. Buy American.... IDIOT!

I provided you information about the weight reduction on the Elantra, which you claimed to have read. Yet you somehow missed the numerous citings about how the weight reductions were achieved.... IDIOT!

And you prattled on about how the Eastern companies unfairly exclude the Cruze from their comparisons. I not only proved that wrong as well, but I even showed you how GM is comparing their 2011 model to last year's models from the others....IDIOT!

Lastly, after you've offered no basis to support any of your arguments, you float some vague bullshit about me hunting on posted land, or whatever the fuck you're talking about????

You remind me of something...

Buy car from you?
You've got that right. Congratulations on a first!

Re: Hyundai

You do have a little bit of sympathy from me on one thing.
My wife and I were talking about it on the way home yesterday. How it must suck to be a salesperson for Dodge or GM these days.
I can understand why you'd have a chip on your shoulder about a lot of things.
If you want to email me your resume I'd be glad to pass it along to the manager at the Hyundai dealership when I go there to pick up my car tomorrow.

Re: Hyundai

Asswipe, the signs I was refering to are the ones you clearly missed when you walked into dealerships on several occasions that stated the processing fee! Too bad you didn't take the the opportunity to excercise your right to apologize and redeem yourself. I asked you to take it to PM's but no had to attempt to flex your chest on the internet! i like how you claim a bunch of unsupported BS such as I didn't know GM's association w/ Daewoo! BUY YOUR HYUNDAI AND STFU PRICK!

Im on my second one and havent had any problems to speak of,,,unless 40mpg is a problem.

i am on my second as well. first i owned for 1 year until i got my 2008 ML320, had a problem right out of the lot that took the dealership over 2 weeks to figure out and fix. this being a "new" from the factory vehicle left me quite disappointed. although the ML320 is made in the US, maybe that's why.

Re: Hyundai

MB gets my vote. Id give the contest a TKO for T3. But I wouldnt count Turk out completely. Awaiting the rematch. Frank can sell a per view viewing. We'll need a ref though...suggestions?

I know your sold on it and it sounds like a good car. Further on the MB, they dont try to CUT wieght..mine wiegshs 3899 lbs...wieght is mass and adds to the quality of ride...yet its not slugglish ..0-60 in about 5.5 seconds and will stop on a dime and give you 9 cents change. And at least for me, anywhere diesel willl freeze Im not gonna be.

It does sound like another thorn in the American auto industry. Hope you find what your looking for. Its prob better for the driving you do. Check out ebay motors.

I have two very good shooting buddies who are both MB techs.....needless to say I won't be getting a MB anything....ever. There is a reason BMW and Mercedes annually rank in the lowest third of reliability.

Re: Hyundai

I looked at the Honda CR-Z, Hyundai Elantra and Nissan Juke this weekend and I have to say the Elantra won it for me. MPG, Warranty, price and features not to mention much improved styling really pushed me in the direction of the Hyundai.

Re: Hyundai

Back to the original question.......

Wife has an '03 Santa Fe with just over 100k on it and she loves it. I decided to get an '06 Sonata due to the trouble free Santa Fe and I've been VERY happy with it. I'm @ 90k now and the car is still very solid. Do your research and go for a test drive. I'd recommend one.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif., November 17, 2010 – ALG, a subsidiary of DealerTrack Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: TRAK) and the industry benchmark for residual values and depreciation data, today announced its 12th Annual Residual Value Awards, with Subaru and Infiniti taking the awards for top mainstream and luxury brands, respectively. Japanese models also continued their overall dominance of the awards, winning 12 of the 19 individual vehicle segments.

ALG's Residual Value Awards honor the vehicles in each segment that are predicted to retain the highest percentage of their MSRP after a conventional three-year period.

"High residual values are a key indicator of a brand's health and contribute to driving increased profitability," said Raj Sundaram, Senior Vice President, Solutions Group and ALG. "The movements within our 2011 rankings suggest that more OEMs are committed to improving residuals, and that the awards in the future will be even more competitive based on the strides the Korean and domestic manufacturers are making."

Ok. I'm all done working, and playing, now.
It's bedtime and the Mrs. wants to thank me for buying her this wonderful new car.

Get a good night's sleep now, and dream of a better February at Gubbamint Motors.

Re: Hyundai

Given all of the above evidence, and the overwhelming absence of any to the contrary, I'd say that yes, "I bought a Hyundai!"

I'm as pleased as you are!

Re: Hyundai

Well I've never owned a hyundai directly but a room mate of mine did. I owned a BMW M3 at the time. They Tiburon he owned held its own and was reliable for the most part but about a year in it just seemed that little things everywhere began to wear down. They were just minor minor things but just enough to tick you off that the car was relativly new, while my used m3 was still in pretty pristine states except a floor mate hook that broke. It was overall a good car, pretty nice cheap but its no german engineering and you will be taking care of small things. I wish I had a 3+ year report for you but my room mate sold the hyundai off after I left and bought a audi he said he just got sick of trying to keep it "show ready". I think a normal person would like its price/quality level. But if your a car nut I would suggest something a little nicer. Hope this helps.

You may not like it but,"No matter how you slice it", Hyundai has been kicking ass across the board.

I am just fuckin with ya man i really dont care where people get a car or what they want . I do know one thing just got done pulling one of those out of the ditch and they are a bitch to hook a tow rope up to wtih out tearing any thing off. the front did not look at pretty as the car in the picture as it did not care for the 4 feet of hard packed snow.

Re: Hyundai

Only six air bags and no Onstar and you bought it for your wife! Either you are heartless or should seek marriage counseling! Hyundai has never put safety first. They do the bare minimum and usually after everyone else. I would say listen to some of the other members about the little things that go wrong but it really doesn't matter now. I was going to offer to get you a better deal on your shitbox regardless, but you assumed that I only worked at a Chevy store! I apologize in infringing on you excercising your Forest Gump rights to buy a shitbox. Btw you never did say how you were selfemployed?

Re: Hyundai

I worked for General Motors for 11 years before it went government ownership. Had a lot of Chevy's but did buy a Hyundai Tiburon over 10 years ago, the first year it was introduced I think. Just traded it in last year and it was OK with the 100,000 mile warranty. Like said above, a lot of small things started to go wrong with it after about 133,000 miles on it. Got my daughter a new Elantra at a great price as part of the trade in. Hyundai made a lot of improvements in their quality levels over the years. Not saying you can't get a bad one, just like most other cars; but overall was pleased with how mine performed. Still prefer to buy domestic when I can (Jeep and Chrysler) but it is getting harder to find a true US produced vehicle (assembly, parts, etc.) no matter who you buy it from these days. FYI, GM now sells more vehicles in China than they do in the USA, mostly Buick's. For some reason unknown to me, they love Buick's. Go figure.

Same here in Idaho - that Doc fee is pure profit. The guy we buy all of our company vehicles through treats us well. Told us the actual costs for the doc fee (less than $25) and their current doc fee? $289.

We never pay that. Ever. Tell them to take it off the price of the car or whatever it is they need to do to show it as paid, but that amount comes off the price of the car somewhere before we do paperwork. Total scam.

So now that you have a new car are you coming out West for a visit?

What the Hell does she need with Onstar?
She drives heavily traveled roads. She has a cell phone. And most importantly, she is hardly some helpless dumb-fuck soccer mom from NOVA who uses the GPS to get to the same goddamned Starbucks every day for three years straight.

Turk, you lost this one days ago.

You're like the last place finisher in the 100 meter hurdles in the Special Olympics.
Yeah, you'll get a medal for participating. But the most lasting memory we'll all have is the one of you falling over the first hurdle and then proceeding to eat it.
