I got the press last night and i guess the spring under the ball for the detent is broke. The head just spins around and doesnt stop at any point. I really dont wanna send it back unless i have to but i cant get the ball out to check the spring! Any suggestions????

Call Redding and I will bet they have a fix- new part shipped or DIY fix. Probably not the first time they have seen your problem.

Ok, I am trying to visualize what is going on in your case. So you are saying that your turret spins freely? To me, that sounds like there is no ball. Why can't you get the ball out to check the spring? Unscrew the top center bolt and lift the turret head off. I am pretty sure that there is no ball under your turret. If that is the case, just call Redding on monday and they will hook you up. Redding has awesome customer service.

i took the turret off and the ball sits below the surface and i cant get it out. Like in my first post I was just asking how to get the ball out, im sure the spring is either broke or missing. How will Kroil get the ball out???

1) Magnet.

2) Dismount the press and turn it over.

3) Call Redding for what you need to fix it. They have good customer service.

Did you try a magnet? Not all stainless alloys are the same.

You might try flipping it over and tapping with a brass mallet.

If you push against the exposed ball with a pin/nail, will it move down and back up? If so, you have a spring but the ball is stuck on burr. If it won't move at all there may be no spring under it or the ball is blocked from moving up by a stray metal chip.

KYlongshot-
interesting story and sorry you are the one on the wrong end. Please keep us updated on how this gets fixed and how Redding CS performs for you.

I have a T7 and I'm pretty sure it would be the only thing in my house to survive a nuclear bomb attack on Washington DC...

You need to move to the mountains of NC, none of us would know or care if DC became a smoking hole in the edge of the Potomac, especially if Congress was in session.

That is the truth, but for now its home because both wife and I have great jobs in area. In the mean time, at least my reloading setup w/ the T7 is nuke proof.

Re: i bought the Redding T7 and its broke already!

i was going to send it back to Sinclair Int, but i thought id call Redding first. So i talk to a tech named Scott, he said they have been having this problem. He told me to try the magnet, compressed air, ect. So he said he'd talk to the other techs and call me back. Well he called me back in less than 10 min. He suggested that i try to solder a wire on the ball, so i tried and that didnt work so i called right back. I told him i knew i could prob weld a nut on the ball but i didnt want to void any kind of warranty. He said not to worry and that he would make sure i was taken care of. So thats what i did and it pulled out. The hole was filled with what looked like machine shavings. They are sending me a new ball and spring, just incase that spring got hot. So i asked about the $8 i spent on solder and he told me he would definately take care of me! I was very happy with the service i recieved from Scott and Redding

And im glad i called and didnt ship it back to sinclair and wait 1.5 min to get it back.
