I have my stripped lower - now what?

OK, I will confess I bought in to the fear mongering and grabbed a stripped lower - assuming that lowers may be banned for new purchases going forward. What little experience I have is with bolt rifles - not black rifles. Am I safe now that I have my stripped lower? Can I just build at a later date when I have time or money or am I at risk of other parts being banned?

Wanted to get some thoughts from those with more wisdom.......

By purchasing a stripped lower, you're speculating (however unintentionally) that any successful legislation would mirror the 1994 AWB, which only effected the new manufacture of rifles with banned features, but did not restrict rifles in circulation.

In short, the ATF visited all rifle manufacturers and recorded the serial number of their newest fully assembled rifle as of 13 Sep 94, e.g., if company A had serial number 101 fully assembled, they cold not build rifle number 102 with banned features.

Again, the 1994 ban had no affect on rifles in circulation, hence the panic to buy up lowers in preparation for any new legislation. However, the bill sponsored by Feinstein would require any AW to be registered as NFA, meaning your new lower would be subject to registration (and a 6mo wait) before it could be assembled with any banned components.

How this will shake out is anyone's guess, but present market conditions provide some indication of how the smart-money is betting. I won't give you advice on how to spend your money, but keeping up with legislation and writing your representatives certainly won't hurt.

I already have the mags covered. Was able to find 12 PMAGS for $15.99 a piece about 2 weeks ago. I called the next day trying to add to my order and they were sold out.
