So yesterday my wife went through the usual Thanksgiving ritual of making her homemade pies. She made apple, cherry, and pumpkin pies. She made it clear to our sons and my little brother that the pies were off limits. Well, she forgot about her oldest "child" (me!). I managed to eat about half of the cherry pie myself and a slice each of the other two during the night as everyone slept. On one hand I kind of feel bad because they are pies made from scratch and not store bought. But on the other hand we go through this every year since we been married, so it's nothing new.

So yeah, word of advice here is if you have pie cravings like I do, get the store bought kind for being a pig with and save the homemade kind for the ACTUAL Thanksgiving Day. :D

Wish I didn't use the term "pie craving" because I'm sure Shanky will come along with some perverted comment. :p

You saved yourself one argument is what you done. Its the same way with my gun buying logic. I always figure if I tell my wife I'm buying a new gun we will have an argument, then when I go ahead and buy it we have another argument. I just skip the first argument and buy without saying anything and just have one argument. I look at as helping. Less arguments = better relationship.

OP, it is called quality control.

You cannot allow food to be served to others in your house without checking for spoilage and general flavor. Imagine if your wife had made a mistake and the pie tasted horrible or it made folks ill, she would be embarrassed and she would never live it down. If you are asking me, putting yourself in harm's way like that was damn near heroic.

Except he ate 1/2 of the Cherry Pie. She may put a Warrant out for his arrest.
