This looks promising and maybe some ballistic apps already available could look into syncing a device like this. Could eliminate the need to carry an iPhone and a kestrel.

I contacted the developer to see if possible integration could be made for ballistic apps such as Applied Ballistics and shooter. He said it can be done and their thinking about it.
