It is supposed to be Gen3.Has anyone said if this scope would be marketed as a G3 scope or G4. If a G4 what’s the chance of another scope or two making an appearance? I.e. a G4 gen 6-36. Just rambling on a Sunday afternoon.

i'll wait for a closeout/discount on a new genII 4.5-27 for my 22lr open gun.Won't know till we get more details, or someone spills them, from the above it sounds like it's lighter so that's a win for guys not wanting a 4lb optic. Could just be filling out the lineup, they have been trying to give away Razor Gen II 3-18's for almost a year now, and recently the 4.5-27's appear to be getting closed out some stores. So this might be filling a void for the Gen II's going away (total speculation). Looks to have the same turret/style as the 6-36 so it's not going to be cheap
I've often been confused of the popularity of say the 3-18 optics that are 95% of the price and size/weight of their 5-25, 4.7-27 counterparts etc. Now if it's 20% lighter, and cheaper sure I can see it fitting a use case. But I also don't get why guys put a huge mag optic on their bolt guns but then put a 3-18 on their 18lb precision AR's. The Razor Gen II 3-18 was a perfect example, they have been giving them away for $1100 or less now for months. It's not a bad scope but why buy a 3-18x when the 4.5-27x is the same size/weight/cost. You gotta really love 3-4.5x to give up 10x on the top end in the same package.
Now if the Gen II 4.5-27 does go away, and this 4-24 really is 30% lighter and smaller package than the 6-36, that makes a lot more sense to distance it from the 6-36 more than the 3-18 ever did from the 4.5-27
That scope has a min parallax of 32yds, just so you know. Not sure if that’s close enough for NRL22 as I don’t compete.i'll wait for a closeout/discount on a new genII 4.5-27 for my 22lr open gun.

I own a couple of them, and they definitely don’t focus close.
That’s good to know! I’m thinking of trying one of those .22 matches. They work fine for .22 matches. Used one for a few years on my original Vudoo. You would be powered down for a super close target and the 32 yard parallax doesn’t negatively affect it. Took shots down to 15 yards without a problem and today’s matches seem to be stretching out more than coming in closer to challenge the shooters.

The Gen II 4.5-27x56 is not discontinued, it is still in Vortex's active lineup. They have a few of the older reticles that may show up in the discontinued section but that is all.Yeah, if only the Gen II 4.5-27 followed the price drop the 3-18s did, for over a year could get those under $1100 delivered, I bought 3 under $1000 delivered from the Hide's favorite hated vendor.....Optic Planet
These days the 4.5-27 seems almost foolish in their lineup, street price the 3-36x is basically the same. Looking at one pricing comparison site this morning the cheapest 4.5-27 was only $400 cheaper than the 3-36 ($2200 vs $2600). I can't believe 4.5-27's are flying off shelves at that pricing. Used values for them have plummeted.
We might never see huge deals on the 4.5-27 like the 3-18, but here's hoping I'm wrong! It's been listed on Vortex's "inactive" list as well with the 3-18x and 1-6 Gen 2's for some time, yet clearly stores are keeping flowing stock of both of those. Even the 5-20x still available in stores are not really priced well, street prices on those are still $1700 or so, I can't imagine paying that for a HD 5-20 in 2025, heck I wouldn't have paid that for it in 2020 when they "discontinued" it.......yet it's still in stores new
Vortex's used of "discontinued" clearly deserves this meme

Thanks, IMO, that infers no other scopes in the near term. If it was a G4, then I would expect others to fill in the line.Got the official word. This new scope is part of the Gen 3 line.
Any idea on when it would drop? Around Shot Show?Got the official word. This new scope is part of the Gen 3 line.

Ya me too.I just want a Gen 3 Razor without a Christmas tree reticle
Last two days I’ve got to shoot my buddies Kahles 5-40 with the SKMR+ reticle. For me it’s the perfect reticle, I’d love having a Gen 3 Razor with that reticle. If they came out today with one I’d be selling my two Razors I use for my match guns now. Guess I’ll have to suffer, cause I sure as hell can’t afford to Kahles 5-40’sYa me too.
Problem is they don't give a fuck.
Welcome to a clown world .
Vortex prob makes 10x more profits off their sub $1000 products VS their high tier stuff. They'll likely never lose that market share with the no questions forever warranty. It's all funny till someone else takes that share of the market and the boss runs out of cocaine.
I understand that and own a handful of them.Vortex prob makes 10x more profits off their sub $1000 products VS their high tier stuff. They'll likely never lose that market share with the no questions forever warranty.
Why the hate on the Tree DG?I just want a Gen 3 Razor without a Christmas tree reticle
Nothing to wrong with vortex’s Christmas tree reticle, but I prefer something closer to the NF MILC, JTAC reticle, MPCT1 especially on a scope I use on a hunting rifle. Why the hate on the Tree DG?
Matches have changed since then and the 1C was nothing like what they have now. Between 22 matches and centerfire matches I don’t think I’ve needed a tree in the last 4 years. I mean really Rob comparing what’s out there to a 1C that was .5 mil hash. Get realThe problem is the vocal minority yell for a non tree reticle and they don’t sell enough to make it worthwhile. That is why the 1C was dropped from the Gen II line. They offered a non tree and they didn’t sell nearly well enough to keep them in the line.

I’m curious if the present trend to barricade bench rest match styles will continue to grow with more and more shooters signing up. If things get wobbly again and time gets tight, or some other busy work is added to popular COFs, the tree reticle may see a resurgence. We almost never hold elevation at matches unless it's the PRS barricade. For the type of shooting most people do they always have time to dial. It's very rare where you don't dial as the targets have gotten so small you want that extra precision aiming point. Trees were another carryover from the military where they have legit purpose but like most things tactical Timmy civilian thinks mil ttp and equipment is cutting edge when it's actually the opposite for small arms.

No need to hope. It’s under 32 ounces. My ARC is waiting too. lolAnother one here hoping it's 32oz or less. At least in that range. Would love one for each 6ARC.
Careful now or Rob will be along to tell us that no one needs a scope under 46oz and that Vortex tried a lighter weight scope in the Razor AMG and they dropped it for being too light.Another one here hoping it's 32oz or less. At least in that range. Would love one for each 6ARC.
The AMG needed to be a 4-16 or 4-20Careful now or Rob will be along to tell us that no one needs a scope under 46oz and that Vortex tried a lighter weight scope in the Razor AMG and they dropped it for being too light.
An AMG in 4-20 would be AWESOME!The AMG needed to be a 4-16 or 4-20
Loved the scope but hated that it was 6-24.
At the least get rid of the open center and dot.
I can ignore a tree if there is a decent + cross hair in the center.
The small center dot gets lost in the glare and clutter too much. Takes too long to get on target.
I see a vortex hornets nest has been stirred up.
There is no conceivable Monterey difference in producing moa or mils, and shouldn't be to go treeless either. Less the advertising / bandwidth .
Every body is not playing a 90 second game.
Right?! Some guys fuck other guys too. It’s wild!Just shows how different we all are, since using the center dot I can’t stand anything else lol. Like me if they’d just take the tree away on the 7D I’d be tickled pink. Though I would keep one of my Gen 3’s as a just in case scope.
