I was voting for Biden but this changed my mind to Trump

That was AWESOME!!!! I hope that goes turbo viral before YT yanks it. Seriously though, it's up to us to get out there and educate all of the sheeple we know. If Trump wins, I hope the first thing that dies is declare war on media / social media, and goes after a repeal of SECTION 230!

Issue with 230 as I understand it, is how it has not been applied as written only broad interpretations to the benefit of these large social media companies.

They are somehow exempt from the same liability claims that apply to news oulets, ISPs and publishers.

Facebook, and twitter ARE publishers, since they do control the content they make available, searchable, etc. Once they step into managing potential content, they are no longer just a conduit for the content but an active participant.

Of course, they got billions to fight with, and politicians in their pockets, so I dont really expect much to happen. Just like the subpoena on twitter jack...means...jack shit.

I do believe however, and said as much that this whole ordeal would only expose them. They desperately took actions to regain footing of the narrative and it has backfired. People ARE waking up, slowly but you see it...real people like my man in the OP. Not the bots and fake twitterbook accounts. How many are REAL accounts versus bots or worse foreign influence? You do know that in the past, twitter has purged millions of accounts for being "fake". Thats just the tip of iceberg. Millions upon millions of fake accounts and AI bots infest these platforms. Spewing all kinds of propoganda and BS. Yet, twitterbook gives this largely a pass, so long as it aligns with their biases.

Sad.

Govt control isnt the answer and rarely is. But why not apply the already existing standards of 230 to the social media outlets? Makes no sense, but me thinks many people been getting PAID, bigly.

I honestly believe trump is going to crush Biden short of some successful widespread cheating scheme. The lies the progressives have fed folks over the years are starting to crumble.

I’m a white, country, corn fed hick from Kentucky and so far, I haven’t disagreed with one word I’ve heard this guy say, even though he’s a self described “hood n**ga”. I’ve seen analogous results of dem policies to those he described in my hometown, but there it’s SS disability and OxyContin. Makes me feel like it all it comes from the same evil. It’s for a purpose.

Scenario: Trump wins and big tech looses 230 protection because of their abhorant behavior during the election. With a potential of dwarfing the the tobacco settlements, the plaintiff bar sees a gold mine in filing class action suits against big tech. They may mostly be Democrats but wil never let that get in the way of their dream of owning a professional sports team.

Yes, the "news" and social media are allowed to do what they do, thanks in part to abuse of Section 230 and the termination of the FCC's Fairness Doctrine (the latter applies more towards main stream media). The obvious result being the one-sided shit show that convolutes people's sense of the "truth".

Finding a solution is complicated IMO. Gov control/regulation can be a problem, but the only alternative that I see would be public demand for self-reform of journalism and the wake up call for everyone to cease using these platforms built upon surveillance capitalism. If they have leas people to advertise to, the advertisers go away, and they would be forced to change their modus operandi.
