    Marines lowering the bar again....

    https://www.marinecorpstimes.com/ne...-officer-course-lowers-requirement-for-hikes/

I fell out of a few hikes in my time I will admit.

One on Oki when my MA upbringing gave me no warning of what tropical heat and humidity were like and one at Geiger when blood coming from the back of my boot had me in the hummer only a block or two from our barracks.

But I was an 18 year old boot. It takes all of the first enlistment to really season a Marine.

Officers dont get that luxury and as they are older they should have lost some of the dumb an 18 year old retains.

These changes to the mil do not bode well for the troops if we lose our advantage in transportation.

Darwin will take many fast and the Corps will remain.

Sgts will be Lts real fast.

Personally, I don't think it is lowering expectations that led to this development, rather 10+ years of a war where everyone pretty much is trucked most places. If we end up in a war with a "peer level" adversary, I'd wager forced marches will come back in a hurry.

At least they're (slowly) moving the PT requirements to be more strength focus'ed (but they still require f'ing running, which really only tests endurance, and not much of it at that). And yes, I was a runner.

I wish they had pushed more strength training, but...if
"if's" and "but's" were cherries and nuts, everyday would be f'ing Christmas.
