Does anyone have any info on particular Brand names and their suppressing ability. SO far I've heard that these preform the best-
SRT Shadow XL
YHM Phantom
SureFire Suppressors
Advenced Armament Corps.

Just know if you're going to slap on 8-10" of suppressor on top of a 24" barrel you're going to have quite the long setup on a gas gun....will also depend if you need a thread on suppressor or Quick Detach (QD). Also, do you mean .308 AR10/SR25 and not AR15?

Re: I'ma Newb. Got a suppressor question.

AR-15, and i haven't gotten my barrel threaded yet, so whatever attachment/ threading i need i'll will get done by my Gunsmith. I'm just looking for the best quality/ Noise suppressing piece of equipment.

I guess I'm confused then. AR15 refers to the .223/5.56 platform and the AR10/SR25 refers to the .308/7.62 platform....so you can't really have a .308 AR15. If it is on the AR10 platform then most likely your threaded pitch will be 5/8-24. There are pro/cons to having a threaded or QD can, so list your requirements and we can help narrow the choices down.

Re: I'ma Newb. Got a suppressor question.

i own a DPMS .308 with my own mods of course. Requirements are quietest suppressor around. seen videos of high power rifles being suppressed to nothing more than an Air-Soft blast. I assume they are using Sub-Sonic ammo, but maybe they aren't.

Re: I'ma Newb. Got a suppressor question.

Like the bolt bun question, what's your budget?

24" barrel, get a TI can for sure, to far out there for a heavy pig of a steel can.

Seriously, look into the Sandstorm, thread the barrel 5/8-24 and shoot.

By the way, just to confirm, you know it's legal to actually shoot/use and suppressor in the state of Washington. You can own one, but have to leave the state to use it.

Check out these two videos - the REPR is firing supersonic, the 700 subsonic. Same suppressor - a SWR, thread-on Omega. If I were you I'd chop the barrel to 18-20" and get a QD suppressor such as an Gem-Tech HVT, AAC762SD, or something to that effect. I don't think you really have to worry about getting the quietest suppressor around, any of the higher quality suppressors will more than suit your DB reduction requirements. 18-20" will still get you to 800 and will be much easier to handle. The QD will allow you to quickly take the can off and still have a compensator or flash suppressor and not worry about messing up the threads and/or crown. Hope that helps.

FFS, Know your equiptment, know your states laws, use the search functon. Maybe then you won't sound like an airsoft toting 14 year old kid, and you will get more serious answers.

I thought WA could own/mount the suppressor. But could NOT fire weapon through the suppressor. Had to be sighted by an actual LEO for it to be an offense?

Asking for fact check myself....looking into owning as well.

I'm guessing that Jasonk means it's illegal. Not long ago I looked up the RCW, it's attached to all sorts of funny stuff. Switchblades, Saps, Billy Clubs, and even pistol concealment. All of which are a gross misdemeanor. Goofy thing is that there is a specific exemption for LEO on the auto knives part of the RCW, but nothing else. Also, there is no mention or cross reference to the RCW about concealed pistol licenses. Not really sure what to make of that. I guess if any police agency is using them, they are also in violation.

I had a police buddy tell me that they'd have to witness it in order to charge you with anything.
