Looking to build a SA Multi Cal set up. Had planned to go Zeus with proof prefits until they announced they’re no longer in that market. Now I’m debating going for the 737R with prefit availability vs having barrel spun up by SJA for the Zeus. I hadn’t looked a whole lot into the 737 until the proof announcement and have read a lot of good stuff on their actions but not a ton on the 75* bolt.

I like the thought of the Zeus QC set up and it matching my Delta 5 duty gun 60* throw.

Any advice on why I should or shouldn’t go with one vs the other?

I have several 737Rs and one Zues QC. Both are great actions, but I like the Impact better. Does that mean I regret getting the Zues, definitely not. I went with the Zues for a very specific build, a 22 Creedmoor. I wanted a way to change worn out barrels at the drop of a hat. I figure I have 600-700 on a barrel and shoot 2k a year. On a more sensible caliber I would go Impact all the way. I like the bolt force and feed better on the 737R.
On a different note, why are you set on a Proof? They are good, but there are a number of more competitive barrels out there. Too each their own.

This might end up being a cross over episode with the barrel torque thread but...

If you are looking for the ability to change on the fly with minimal tools/effort, the Zeus QC is what I went with for one of my fun builds.

If you are changing barrels with a wrench to get some proper torque, you can go with whatever action you want... at that point, start looking at other features like mag compatibility or long term reviews. I would personally go with an Impact if I were building a comp gun. Considering most people with switch barrel setups leave a single barrel on for 90%+ of the time, this is what I would recommend overall.

Expert voice pricing is pretty enticing for the proofs and them being in stock and ready to ship is why I was leaning toward them versus having them spun up by a builder and them taking 6 months (I know some are shorter but that seems to be normal nowadays). I really haven’t deep dove into the barrel world, just seen a lot of good reviews on SJA so I would probably go with them.

I haven’t got into Barrel swapping bolt guns but it seems pretty straight forward with custom actions and prefits. Just need to pick up a better Torque wrench, action wrench and barrel vise.

I think most prefits are going to either be in stock or like a month wait time depending on what you want.

I actually was reading that thread on barrel torque before posting this. I assumed I would just go with impact or barrel builders reccomendation.

just be warned barrels ordered from expertvoice can also take up to 6 months to be delivered. That’s not always the case but it happens.

You’ll be happy with either action. Both companies are great too. But the I would get the impact. More prefit availability, they work with Grayops mags, you can actually take the bolt apart.
