I thought there has to be a 2/3 majority?

actual impeachment proceedings take place in the senate. even if they could get enough votes in the house to try it, the senate would never impeach him on what the dems have.

1) Use the argument of impeachment proceedings to try to gain access to more documents.
2) So some dem congresscritters can claim they're working on impeachment while never having to actually vote on impeachment.

I believe it's simple majority in the House. Trial in Senate requires 2/3 for conviction.

Edit: And they're not voting on impeachment in the House, at least not now. They (most dems) don't want to touch that; they remember the 90's. They are just claiming the House or certain House committees are investigating impeachment.
