New 300 RUM in the American wilderness rifle, what can I do besides adding a muzzle break and getting a bedding job to improve its accuracy? (Jewell trigger is going in)

It wasn't a dig at you genuise. Notice I liked the post and style. Not all the answers can be found here. Especially, for a hunting rifle.

Um...after you buy a nightforce scope and mount it correctly so it doesn't come loose (not rocket science), you shoot 10 rounds to get it sighted in close at 100 yards. Then you put the crosshair on a 1" orange dot at 100 yards, hold steady, and pull the trigger...…….OK, I know how to shoot the gun, but how can I make the gun more accurate, not make me more accurate. I wonder why my name is Weatherby460?

On a factory rifle there is not much more to do than replace the trigger, assure the barrel is free floating and bedding the action. You can add a muzzle brake for shooters comfort, swap stocks for the same... about the only thing else I can think of is using a good quality base and rings if your going with a two piece mounting system.

Anything else would warrant barrel replacement. Don't bother with action/bolt truing unless you are replacing the barrel.

1) Bed the rifle in the stock of choice, either factory or aftermarket.
2) Add a good trigger.

For most factory rifles, you will get a good read at this point.

3) If fouling is an issue (frequent with Remington factory barrels) consider a Tubbs treatment or a new barrel. I have a 300WM that was 1/3MOA for 12-15 shots only, then fouling made it a shotgun. Did a partial Tubbs on it, now it's a good 50 shots between cleanings. Depending on needs a new barrel isn't always the answer.

A muzzle break is not an accurizing step. It is an accommodation for the shooter, which may result in a smaller group.
