Out west, but not too far west
I bought a GAP Rock with a McMillan M-40 stock. However, with the 20 MOA rail, the scope is higher than my normal cheek weld/eye alignment.

Do I buy a stock pack? Or, install a Karsten Kydex cheek piece on the stock?

Or, buy lower bases and use the 40MOA Burris Xtreme Tactical Signature Picatinny-Style Rings to achieve the same goal?

Ideas?

if stock pack, which one is best? There's a gazillion out there.

Do a stock pack and test it out first... see how far off it is. How high are your rings now? Most, even with medium/low rings still need some sort of adjustment (at least while prone). Personally, if I had a GAP Rock, I would send the stock back to GAP and have them install KMW hardware.

I wouldn't add any complexity to the mountings.

I'd opt for the Karsten option. Cheekweld height requirements can change as shooting positions change, the Karsten is at least a recognizable, respectable addition, and they have a lot of fans.

Send it to Jducos. He has installed KMW Loggerhead in various stocks for years here on the hide. I venture to say will all satisfied customers. Contact him: You will not be disappointed. Do it right with the KMW Loggerhead hardware.

The KMW hardware is great and Jducos does great work. I had him install the KMW on a GAP Crusader and I couldn't have been happier.
