I have an opportunity to get some IMR 4955, but I really don't see a lot of Hide members singing its' praises. Many seem to be wanting to sell or exchange for other things of the shooting sort, so I thought I would ask for some opinions.
I shoot 6.5 CM, 300WM mostly. Touted as temperature friendly and 'environmentally' friendly. That last part is kind of a red flag for me. Thanks for your thoughts.

It should work for the Win Mag but my only experience with it was in the 6.5 PRC with light hunting monos.

I haven’t tried 4955 but the 4451, 7977 snd 8133 in that series of powders have been excellent
Maybe a bit slow for the 6.5 but usable and in the range for lighter bullets in 300Wm.

10-4 on the 7977. Best powder I have found for our .25-06. Gets the 115 Bergers down the range with the best velocities I have obtained with that rifle and the groups stay tight.

I just started using it in 6CM. Results are promising. Looks like case fill to the neck junction is 44-45 grains without a drop tube. I loaded 43gr and 44gr under a 115 DTAC; got 2950, 3040 fps respectively @ 82°F. No pressure signs.

Did you shoot for grouping and how did they turn out? Thanks
I'd be shooting 140g in the 6.5CM.

I run 45.5 grains under 168 gr TMKs in .308 with 4955 on occasion, just to get rid of it. It does pretty well, cycles my LR308 with rifle length gas and buffer system, and shows no pressure signs that I can discern.

I had trouble getting it to cycle some 155 HPBTs I had lying around, so it may not be ideal for 6.5 CM, but there's apparently a lot of data out there using it with a .260, which is about as close to 6.5 CM as you can get.
