Was curious to see if anyone is using the new IMR8208XBR in .308,6ppc,&.223 and their experience.
I have tried it in my Tango51 .308, Early Sako HB Varmint 6ppc, and a built HB AR in .223.
I used it to replace my standard powders of 4064 in .308,and N-133 in 6ppc/.223.
The powder meters very well out of my Redding measure saying within .1Gr and is easier and more consistent than both the 4064 & N-133.
In my test loads I used only Lapua brass and Federal match primers with SMK 168grn. in .308, 70grn. SMK in 6ppc, and 52grn. Match King in .223.
For the .308 I duplicated the factory FGGM load of about 2650fps in my rifle. ES was about 20fps and accuracy equal or better than factory loads in my Tango, which was built around that load.
In my old Sako 6ppc American (no turn neck)I duplicated Sako factory velocity of 3000fps with low ES. Excellent varmint accuracy shooting in the .2's. This was better than factory accuracy.
In my AR I loaded initially to 3000fps with excellent results (9 twist).
I had all loads within the Hodgen (IMR) load data manual range and saw no pressure signs shooting in 90deg+ South Texas.
I am going to change to this powder for all 3 of my rifles as it appears to be clean burning and not sensitive to temperature.
What results have you had with this powder?
